Get Ready For The Rebound
While businesses may remain mired in recession for now, they can start making staffing decisions to prepare for the eventual upswing, according to Robert Half Management Resources.
The staffing firm recommends that companies start analyzing themselves now to see how ready they are for better times, especially if they have made staffing cutbacks. Suggestions include:
- Keep reassessing budgets, making changes to reflect changing situations.
- Make sure you have the staff you'll need in better times. Even if you aren't ready to start hiring again, using temporary or project-based staff can get you ready to move forward.
- Consider reinstituting any training and development programs that have been cut back, preparing staff for new opportunities and boosting employee job satisfaction.
- Meet with your best performers, who will likely be approached by recruiters from other companies once the economy improves. Discuss their careers and remind them that you value their work.
