Hope For New Life At Evergreen Solar Plant

The former Evergreen Solar plant in Devens could be home to a new manufacturer before long, according to Peter Lowitt, director of the Devens Enterprise Commission.

Lowitt said Calere Properties of Hudson and Hackman Capital Partners of Los Angeles plan to purchase the facility and lease it to manufacturing tenants. He said a manufacturer is looking into using a portion of the building.

"They're hoping to acquire it as soon as they can," Lowitt said.

Calere and Hackman could not be reached for comment this morning.

Evergreen Solar, which had produced photovoltaic panels at the Devens facility, filed for bankruptcy in August after closing the plant and cutting 800 jobs.
