Lancaster Plastics Firm Expanding

A Lancaster-based corporate trio of plastics companies is building more space to accommodate for expanding business lines, it said.

Reliance Engineering, Built-Rite Tool and Die and LSR Engineering – members of an integrated plastics company led by Reliance – said it just completed a 7,500-square-foot expansion for secondary machining of plastic parts and product assembly at Built-Rite and just started building a 5,000-square-foot white room molding facility for Reliance and LSR.

The two expansions follow the construction of a 10,000-square-foot addition in 2009.

The new expansion will support LSR’s growing liquid injection molding business and Reliance’s growing medical business. The company said it has also taken on recent orders for a large compression molding project, which prompted the purchase of a new CNC milling machine, a 250-ton compression molding machine and several others.

The privately held company said it had record profits in 2012.

The trio plans to add up to 10 manufacturing jobs over the next few years, Craig Bovaird, president, said in a statement.

“These investments will continue to fuel our growth as the size and diversity of our customer base expands,” Bovaird said. “We continue to see strong demand in the medical, military and defense markets.”
