Law Firm Launches Probe Into A123

An Atlanta law firm is investigating whether A123 Systems complied with federal securities laws when making statements to investors.

Holzer Holzer & Fistel announced the probe Tuesday and said it would focus on remarks made by A123 between February 2011 and October 2012 regarding the company’s assets and its relationship with its largest customer, Fisker Automotive Inc.

An A123 spokesman didn’t immediately return calls or emails for comment Friday.

A123 filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in late fall 2012, and sold most of its assets to Chinese firm Wanxiang Group for $256.6 million in December.

Headquartered in Waltham, A123 employs about 160 in Westborough and Hopkinton.

The law firm is encouraging investors who held A123 stock between February 2011 and October 2012 and lost money on that investment to contact them.
