MWCC Lands $1.95M In DOE Grants

Mount Wachusett Community College in Gardner has received two five-year U.S. Department of Education grants worth $2.95 million.

The grants will fund programs for low-income students, first-generation college students and students with disabilities.

The first grant is worth $1 million and will come to the college in five, $200,000 installments beginning in the current semester. The grant is for students in MWCC's health sciences program that also participate in its Student Support Services program, which provides tutoring, career and personal counseling.

The second grant is for $1.95 million and will fund academic advising, personal counseling, career counseling , seminars, financial aid advising, workshops and financial and economic literacy programs provided by MWCC's "Visions Program."
