National Grid: Half of 237K Outages Restored

National Grid said this morning it has restored power to half of the 237,000 Massachusetts customers who lost it during Hurricane Sandy this week and said it expects 75 percent of those customers to be restored by midnight Thursday.

The remaining customers are expected to be restored by midnight Friday.

In Worcester County, 19,055 customers were without power just before 10 a.m. today, while Middlesex County had 12,726 customers without power. In the city proper, 3,756 customers were still out, while Grafton and Sturbridge had 1,114 and 1,112, respectively.

Eight hospitals in the state experienced outages because of the storm, but all were restored Monday night, the utility said.
