New hires and promotions for the Jan. 5, 2009 issue of the WBJ

 

EMC Corp. of Hopkinton has appointed HAREL KODESH as president of its cloud infrastructure business and CEO of the new EMC subsidiary, Decho. Kodesh will lead the data-storage giant’s cloud infrastructure business, which supports companies that use the Internet for data storage and use. As head of Decho, he will also lead efforts to help individuals manage their personal digital information. Kodesh, 50, moves to EMC from a post as chief product officer at Amdocs Inc., which provides software and services to the communications industry.

Fallon Clinic has added three new doctors to its team. ANUPAMA GANDHE has joined the clinic’s department of internal medicine in the division of hospital medicine at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester. DAVID C. KIM will be part of the department of orthopedic surgery in the division of plastic surgery at Worcester Medical Center. DEEPTI KUMAR will practice in the department of cardiology at Worcester Medical Center.

Harrington Hospital in Southbridge has hired a new noninvasive cardiologist, JAMES CHESEBRO. Chesebro joins electrophysiology specialist Jason Rashkin at the University of Massachusetts cardiology practice at Harrington. Chesebro is a professor of medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He will offer lipid management, vascular medicine and general cardiology care.

Country Bank has promoted TRACEY WRZESIEN to lead its Charlton office. Wrzesien has worked for Country Bank for 14 years. She previously served as retail banking officer at the bank’s Brimfield location. She lives with her family in Ware and is currently attending the New England School of Finance Studies at Babson College.

DEBORAH PENTA, CEO of PENTA Communications Inc. in West-borough, has been named chairperson of the Worcester Community Action Council Inc. board of directors. Penta is taking over the post from Jack Foley of Clark University. She previously served as vice chairperson of the agency. WCAC offers education, employment training and assistance programs for people in need.

Two new doctors, MELISSA DOUCETTE and FARZANEH NABIZADEH, have joined Fallon Clinic. Doucette has joined the clinic’s optical practice in Holden. She graduated from the New England College of Optometry in Boston and now lives in Holden. Nabizadeh is with the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Worcester Medical Center. She graduated from St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada and completed her internship and residency programs at the New York Downtown Hospital. She lives in Worcester.

Natick-based BJ’s Wholesale Club Inc. has elected CHRISTINE COURNOYER, president and COO of Wakefield-based software company Picis Inc., to its board of directors. Cournoyer was named to Boston Magazine’s 2003 “Top 100 Women in Business” list and to Business Week’s 2001 “Top Ten Women in Technology.” Picis sells software to automate hospital documentation and business practices. It employs 720 people in North America, Europe and Asia.

SUSAN E. MATTIA has joined the Hudson-based Murphy Insurance Agency as its business insurance manager. Mattia will work from the agency’s Marlborough office, overseeing its business insurance division, which offers support, underwriting and research to commercial clients. Mattia has more than 30 years experience in management and underwriting. She is the immediate past president of the Boston Chapter CPCU Society. She lives in Lynnfield.

DAVID A. JORDAN, president and CEO of the Worcester-based Seven Hills Foundation, has been elected to the national board of directors of the Mental Health Corp. of America. MHCA represents top behavioral health organizations throughout the country.

Strategic Financial Partners of Worcester has hired SHERRI L. KUPSTAS as a financial adviser. Kupstas, an Auburn resident, has five years of experience in banking and financial services. SFP is part of MetLife company New England Financial. Kupusta joins Kerry A. Melley and James J. Hoogasian at the firm.

After working for Worcester’s AdCare Hospital in the eighties, FRANCES A. LA PRAD is returning to the alcohol and drug treatment facility to take on a newly created role. In her new position as director of health information systems, La Prad is helping the hospital move from paper to electronic records. After working as director of medical records at AdCare in the mid-eighties, La Prad moved to Great Brook Valley Health Center, where she helped implement electronic medical records.
