North Central Massachusetts is the second-best metropolitan area in the state for salaries for computer support specialists, according to a release from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) on Friday.

Nationwide, the average annual compensation for a computer support specialist in May 2015 was $52,430, but the Leominster-Gardner metropolitan area average was $58,940, according to BLS.

The Leominster-Gardner metropolitan area, as defined by BLS, includes the cities of Leominster, Fitchburg and Gardner, as well as the towns of Ashburnham, Luneburg, Phillipston, Royalston, Templeton, Westminster and Winchendon.

In Worcester, the average computer support specialist makes $55,140, according to BLS.

Some divisions within the Boston-Cambridge-Newton area averaged higher wages than the larger metropolitan area in May 2015. For instance, the average annual compensation for Framingham support specialists was $59,620. The state average was $62,270.
