Photo/Courtesy Charter Communications in Worcester recently held its annual Scholar Athlete Awards, granting $11,000 in scholarships to eight graduating seniors from high schools throughout the state. Charter received over 100 applications from student athletes, who have demonstrated outstanding academic and athletic achievement throughout their high school careers. Photo/Courtesy The Protector Group in Worcester recently hosted a Halloween event for members of the YMCA of Worcester. This is an annual event during which children from the YMCA located in City Square trick or treat through the office building and walk through Halloween-themed scenes decorated by Protector Group employees. This year, the kids enjoyed such sites as an authentic disco club from the 70's, a carnival and the Island of Misfit Toys. Pictured are some of the trick-or-treaters in action.
Photo/Courtesy Meridian Associates Inc. of Westborough recently sponsored an educational presentation for local Upton Boy Scouts to kickoff their efforts for an engineering merit badge. The presentation highlighted the various career opportunities available in the fields of engineering and landscape design and the environmental contributions they can make on the community. Meridian specializes in land development services such as landscape architecture, land surveying, and 3D laser scanning. Pictured, is Mark E. Photo/Courtesy Leominster Credit Union (LCU) and the Spanish American Center (SAC) recently concluded their first-ever joint collaboration specifically directed at area youth. Working together this past summer, LCU and SAC helped nearly 80 youths from the Clinton area understand how financial institutions operate and the importance of planning for the future. Photo/Courtesy The 19th annual HealthAlliance Golf Classic was recently held at the International Golf Club in Bolton. The event raised more than $166,000 for the hospital's cancer center and scholarship fund for local students seeking to pursue a medical career. The HealthAlliance Cancer Center provides patients with alternative healing therapies in addition to traditional treatment.
