Tewksbury-based Raytheon Company, a defense contractor with operations in Sudbury and Marlborough, has been awarded a $255 million modification to a previously-awarded contract for work on the future USS Lyndon B. Johnson, the company said Monday.

Raytheon was selected to procure mission system equipment for the Navy destroyer, now under construction. The contract modification was awarded Dec. 31 and brings the potential value of the contract to just shy of $350 million.

Raytheon said 18 percent of the work is being done at its Marlborough location and is expected to be finished by October 2019.
