Raytheon Gets Patriot Missile Contract

Raytheon Co., the Waltham-based defense industry giant with operations in MetroWest, has received a $51.3 million contract to upgrade Patriot Advanced Capability-2 missiles.

The U.S. Army Aviation and Missile Command in Alabama issued the contract, which involves conversion of the missiles to the Guidance Enhanced Missile-Tactical, or GEM-T, configuration, improving their service life and reliability. Raytheon is already working on GEM-T upgrades under existing contracts with the U.S. and other countries.

Work on the upgrades is performed at Raytheon's Integrated Air Defense Center in Andover.
