Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester and Athol Memorial Hospital have received special recognition from separate organizations for work they’ve done in the areas of quality and safety and telehealth innovation, respectively.

Saint Vincent Hospital was named a 2015 Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, the leading accreditor of U.S. healthcare organizations. It earned the recognition for its “commitment to improving accurate, fact-based and timely medical interventions,” achieving excellence on accountability measures for heart attack; heart failure; pneumonia; surgical care; stroke and perinatal services, Saint Vincent announced this week.

To be named a Top Performer, hospitals had to meet criteria based on 2014 accountability data.

Athol Memorial, meanwhile, was recognized by the National Rural Health Resource Center for a school-based telehealth program aimed at improving access to child psychiatric services within the Athol-Royalston Regional School District.

The program was developed under Athol’s Community Hospital Acceleration, Revitalization & Transformation (CHART) program, funded by the state Health Policy Commission.
