Solect installs solar canopy on Cape Cod

Hopkinton clean technology provider Solect Energy announced late Tuesday it has completed installation of a 663-kilowatt solar car canopy in the parking lot of Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School.

The solar installation will produce roughly the amount of power used by 700 homes. That the nearby Bourne Rec Authority will be able to draw from the array.

The installation will be integrated into the technical high school’s curriculum, particularly the science program. The school has 725 students.

Solect will continue to own the array, and the school and the rec authority agreed to buy power from it for the next 20 years. Financial details were not disclosed.
