Tufts, MetroWest Medical Centers Announce Partnership

Tufts Medical Center announced it has opened a new primary care office in Framingham in partnership with MetroWest Medical Center.

The practice, called Tufts Medical Center Primary Care, will refer patients in need of follow-up care to specialists at both Tufts Medical Center in Boston and MetroWest Medical Center in Framingham and Natick, according to a statement from Tufts. Tufts Medical Center Primary Care offers same-day appointments and on-site laboratory services at its location on Route 9, at 85 Worcester Road, next to Shopper’s World.

CEO: Preventative Care 'Increasingly Important'

“We are proud to collaborate with MetroWest Medical Center to provide this critical service to the community,” said Dr. Michael Wagner, Tufts’ interim president and CEO of Tufts Medical Center. “In a rapidly changing health care landscape, it is increasingly important to maintain wellness through preventive care. Our new primary care practice is committed to doing just that, all in an environment that is comfortable and convenient for patients.”

It is not the first partnership for the two medical centers. Tufts and MetroWest Medical Center are affiliates, with Tufts providing adult and pediatric specialty services at MetroWest Medical Center.
