The T.H.Chan School of Medicine at UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester ranks 13th in the nation and first in New England for primary care education in the U.S. News and World Report’s 2023-2024 Medical Schools Rankings.

The school dropped from number 10 nationally in 2022 for primary care education. It also ranked 44th nationally in research among medical schools, according to the U.S. News Ranking.

“This recognition is rooted in the exceptional work of our world-class faculty, staff and students in the lab, the clinic, classroom and our community, who are working together to improve the health and wellness of the commonwealth and the world,” Terence Flotte, the Celia and Isaac Haidak Professor, executive deputy chancellor, provost and dean of the T.H. Chan School of Medicine said in a Thursday press release.

In April, the publication announced that UMass Chan ranked 58th in biological sciences and its doctor of nursing practice education came in 92nd.

“True to our mission, our community of collaborators at UMass Chan Medical School is advancing medicine and science, together, training the next generation of compassionate physicians, researchers and advanced practice nurses,” said Chancellor Michael Collins in the press release.
