VNA Care Wins Tufts Health Grant

The VNA Care Network of Worcester has landed a $14,000 grant from The Tufts Health Foundation for a program that helps prevent senior citizens from falling.

The program, Fewer Falls, Safer Seniors is a nurse-led, community-based initiative that helps seniors become more knowledge about and aware of falling and the risks that come with it. The money will help 120 seniors participate in group education sessions and receive individualized education on personalized screening results, including a plan to modify any identified risks, according to a statement from the foundation.

The grant is part of $1.6 million in new funding awarded to 34 Massachusetts and Rhode Island-based organizations. Also receiving money was the Montachusett Opportunity Council, based in Fitchburg, for its Linking Initiatives for Vibrant Elders (LIVE) program.
