Worcester Auction To Offer Capone Crimefighter Possessions

Credentials and memorabilia that belonged to Eliot Ness, the federal agent who led investigations into legendary gangster Al Capone's illegal businesses, will be sold at auction in Worcester this fall, Central Mass Auctions announced.

Ness was a federal agent who led investigations into legendary gangster Al Capone's illegal breweries during the Prohibition era.

The Sept. 27 auction will be held at 267 Providence St. The collection includes Ness's credentials, business card, Christmas card, photographs from his unsuccessful 1947 run for mayor of Cleveland and Ness with various dignitaries. Ness died in 1957.
