Skylite Roller Skating Center in Worcester said Monday it will close after four decades in business.

The skating center at 648 Park Ave. in Webster Square did not say whether its closure was related to the coronavirus pandemic that has caused untold numbers of closures of businesses typically operating with people packed indoors closely together.

"The decision to close Skylite was not an easy one," the rink said Monday on its website and Facebook page. "The generations of families and all of our customers have meant so much to us. Your loyalty and support over the years made our business what it was, and we want to thank you very much."

Skylite first stopped operations in March when Gov. Charlie Baker ordered such businesses to close, including restaurants, bars and movie theaters.
