Vice president of business operations

The DAVIS Cos., Marlborough

Lives: Hopkinton

Birthplace: Newton

Colleges: Saint Michael's College in Vermont

Davis first joined the family staffing company as an intern. After graduating college, he began in the startup IT recruitment team. He moved into a leadership role within months, resulting in 100 percent year-over-year growth and more than $2 million in revenue in its first two years. He then moved into a data analysis position, where he implemented processes to enhance the company's efficiency. Thanks to his insight and management, the company opened two new offices in Minneapolis and Memphis. In his current vice president role, Davis oversees interdepartmental collaboration and works to enhance performance through technology. He began the Davis Thanksgiving Dinner Giveaway program, which provides Thanksgiving dinners for the company's clients. In four years, more than 100 dinners have been delivered. Davis and his wife have raised more than $10,000 to support literacy programs and participate in fundraisers for animal shelters. He sits on boards for Partnership for a Skilled Workforce, Career Center Initiative Program and the Massachusetts Staffing Association scientific and engineering placement board.

From 40 Under Forty judge Michael Arnum: “From his exemplary leadership skills to his passion for literacy and animal welfare, Patrick is the definition of can-do attitude.”

What movie character is most like you? Real-life inspiration for “Moneyball” Billy Beane. His approach to doing more with less through analytics is incredible.

Who is most responsible for your accomplishments? My dad. He was a perfect role model for maintaining compassion as a cornerstone for conducting yourself in business.
