Project manager & shareholder

Nitsch Engineering, Worcester

Lives: Worcester

Birthplace: Wakefield

College: UMass Lowell

Gentilucci had a hand in designing hundreds of buildings and developments in the state, and dozens in Worcester, with more than 30 of those projects at higher education facilities, including the $49-million Foisie Innovation Studio & Residence Hall at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, the $53-million Athletics Wellness Center at Worcester State University and the $92-million Performing Arts Center at College of the Holy Cross. Last year, he was promoted to project manager, becoming one of the youngest at Nitsch to ever hold that position. Earlier this year, he became one of 24 shareholders in the company, again one of the youngest. Gentilucci approaches engineering from the sustainability perspective, focusing on environmental responsibility. He's the co-chair of the Central Massachusetts Committee for the U.S. Green Building Council. In 2015, he played an integral role in the opening of the firm's Worcester office, today housing 15 employees in the Mercantile Center. He volunteers as a judge for WPI's Annual Sustainability Competition and during Reading Day and Career Day at Paxton Center School, where his wife is a teacher.

From 40 Under Forty judge Milka Njoroge: "Jared's work shows dedication to improving the community by creating sustainable and accessible spaces as a way to promote diversity."
