Gordon Lankton, Retired president of Nypro Inc.
Lankton could have kept his money all to himself when he was in charge of Nypro, a maker of plastic molded parts, but instead, he decided to share the wealth, a decision that reverberates today in Clinton. In 1998, under Lankton's leadership, Nypro became employee-owned, which allowed employees to reap the financial rewards of the company's success. Dozens of employees eventually became millionaires and countless others benefited from having equity in the firm.
Even after his retirement, Lankton's presence is still very much felt in Clinton. In 2006, he founded the Museum of Russian Icons, which today has the largest collection of its kind in North America and one of the largest outside of Russia, attracting 16,000 visitors annually. Lankton's investment in Clinton's downtown added needed vitality and spurred business growth.
