40 Under Forty: Julia Randall, M.D.

Randall started her residency at the Greater Lawrence Community Health Center, cementing a passion for family medicine and marginalized populations. After graduation, she started work at the Kennedy Community Health Center, drawn to the culturally diverse population. Over the past four years, Randall practiced as an attending family physician with a special interest in caring for patients with substance-abuse disorders. In January, she started overseeing the care of pregnant women, as well as new mothers and infants at UMass Memorial Hospital. Her next step is to contribute to the financial wellbeing of health center, expanding services to underserved communities.

What goal do you set for yourself at the start of every workday? Survival. Providing good, evidence-based medical care from first patient to the last, while maintaining the mental and emotional capacity to do so.
