Residential Remodeling Up 12% In April
There were 2.7 million building permits issued in April for residential remodeling projects in the United States, up 12 percent from April 2011, according to the BuildFax Remodeling Index.
It was the most active April in six years, said Joe Emison, vice president of research and development at BuildFax.
Remodeling was also up 2 percent above the revised March number of 2.6 million.
The Northeast region saw an 11-percent year-over-year increase in April, the second-largest increase next to the South.
