Comcast moving some sports channel operations

Comcast Corp. is moving part of its Versus sports channel operations out of Stamford, Conn., and giving comedian Dennis Miller another chance to chat about sports.

The cable operator said 100 of the network's roughly 200 out-of-state employees have been offered jobs in Philadelphia. Technical workers will stay at the Versus studios in Stamford.

Versus, which reaches 74 million viewers, is growing and a decision was made to move managers to the company's new corporate headquarters next summer.

Once called the Outdoor Life Network, Versus is a national sports that features National Hockey League games and the Tour de France, among other sports coverage.

Comcast, the nation's largest cable company, separately announced that it's going to air a new one-hour weekly show on Versus called "Sports Unfiltered with Dennis Miller." It will debut Nov. 6.

"I'll call 'em as I see 'em and hopefully I'll see 'em better than the home plate ump in the San Diego Padres-Colorado Rockies tiebreaker game," Miller said in a statement.

Miller had a brief stint on "Monday Night Football" in 2000-01.
