The College of the Holy Cross board of trustees has elected Worcester plumbing and heating supply magnate P. Kevin Condron as its chairman.
Condron, a 1967 Holy Cross graduate, has been vice chairman of the board since last year and has been a board member since 2001. He was also a board member between 1992 and 2000. Condron succeeds Dr. Michael F. Collins as chairman. Collins is currently interim chancellor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Condron lives in Worcester and is the CEO of the Granite Group, a plumbing and heating wholesale distributor based in Concord, N.H. The company has more than 450 employees in 26 locations around New England, including Worcester and New York.
Condron is also a director at the Worcester-based Hanover Insurance Group and TD Banknorth Inc. He is a former chairman of the Worcester Redevelopment Authority, the Worcester Area Chamber of Commerce, the Safety Fund National Bank and the Worcester Business Development Corp. He is currently a board member of Catholic Charities of Worcester and a former board member of the Greater Worcester Community Foundation.
Holy Cross trustees serve two consecutive four-year terms. The board elected seven new members along with Condron.
