Westborough Plant Gets EPA Energy Star

AstraZeneca's Westborough plant is one of the first four pharmaceutical plants across the country to earn Energy Star recognition from the Environmental Protection Agency.

The pharmaceutical company received the recognition for performing in the top 25 percent of energy performance nationwide. Compared to similar plants, Energy Star facilities use almost 35 percent less energy on average.

AstraZeneca also received an Energy Star for its Newark, Del., plant. The other two awards went to an Allergan facility in Waco, Texas, and Schering-Plough's plant in Cleveland, Tenn.
