3Com Hires New N. America Manager

3Com Corp., the Marlborough-based voice and data networking company, has named Alex Dobson vice president and general manager for North America.
The company said Dobson will focus on increasing 3Com's presence among customers and potential customers in the U.S. and Canada. Dobson previously worked at BroadSoft Inc., where he was vice president of sales. He was also a senior salesman at 3Com for three years in the 1990s.
In April, after a deal under which 3Com would've been bought by Huawei of China and Bain Capital Partners failed, the company replaced CEO Edgar Masri with Robert Mao, who is based in China. At the same time, the company hired Ronald Sege to be company president and COO based in the U.S.
