AMSC Sells Turbine Components To Indian Manufacturer

Devens-based American Superconductor Corp. said it has received an order for 17 wind turbine electrical component system from Inox Wind Ltd. of India.

The components will be put to work in turbines that generate 2 megawatts of electricity. The turbines themselves are licensed from AMSC's wholly owned subsidiary AMSC Windtec under a year-old contract.

AMSC said the turbines will be used in India, which is expected to double its wind power capabilities over the next five years.

Inox said it wants to eventually export wind turbines from India to other parts of the world.
