Better make a good first impression

Employers form opinions on job applicants within 10 minutes, a new survey from Robert Half Finance & Accounting has found.

According to the survey, managers often know whether they might hire someone soon after an opening handshake and small talk.

Executives polled said it takes just 10 minutes to form an opinion on job seekers despite average interview times between 55 and 86 minutes.

Robert Half developed the survey, which was conducted by an independent research firm. Survey results include responses from 150 senior executives with the country's 1,000 largest companies.
