BSX Buys Another California Company

Boston Scientific, the Natick-based medical device manufacturer, is purchasing California-based development-stage company Sadra Medical Inc. for $225 million.

Boston Scientific already has a 14-percent stake in the company, so actual upfront costs will be $193 million, which the company will fund using cash on hand. The deal includes incentives of up to $193 million additional dollars if Sadra meets regulatory and revenue-based milestones.

Sadra makes a valve for aortic stenosis.

Boston Scientific has been making deals recently. The company announced in September it would acquire California-based Asthmatx Inc. for $193 million. That company makes catheter-based devices for adults with asthma.

In October, Boston Scientific signed an agreement to sell its neurovascular business to Stryker Corp. for $1.5 billion in cash.
