Data centers aging, businesses slow to respond

Data centers are aging and companies don't appear to be planning ahead for new centers, according to a survey by the Aperture Research Institute.

Nearly 40 percent of organizations surveyed said their current data center was built more than four years ago and 64 percent of respondents said they were not planning on building a new one. About a quarter of survey participants are planning to build a center and go live within the next two to three years.

Of the companies surveyed, almost 40 percent operate more than six data centers and nearly 30 percent operate more than 10 facilities.
