DEP fines Uxbridge firms $15K

Two Uxbridge companies have been assessed penalties totaling $15,780 by the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.

The two companies, both owned by Denis J. Dorr, are Immanuel Corp. and Denis Engineering & Machinery Co. Inc. The fine stemmed from violations at 775 Millville Rd. and 79 River Rd. in Uxbridge, according to the DEP.

DEP inspections during 2005 and 2006 found environmental violations, including failure to notify the department of asphalt, brick and concrete processing operations.

In addition to the $15,780 penalty, the DEP's consent order requires both companies to obtain all required permits, file appropriate notifications and take all necessary actions to fully return to compliance.
