Developers To Break Ground At Hadley Burwick

Developers, accompanied by a gaggle of city and state politicians, are expected to break ground next week on the $20.1 million refurbishment of the Hadley building on Main Street.

The urban revitalization project is being undertaken by the Economic Development Funding Corp. of Dedham, which plans 200 condominiums and apartments with rents ranging from $368 to $1,350, two large commercial areas and parking. The project will use the Hadley property, the former David Burwick Fine Furniture, Boys & Girls Club, Caravan Coffee and Beacon Place.

The project, funded with a combination of private and public money, is a response to Gov. Deval Patrick's smart growth and energy initiatives.

The project is expected to be ready for residents by early next year. Next week's groundbreaking is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Hadley building at 651 Main St.
