Marlborough Hospital has appointed two physicians to leadership slots at the hospital.
Jasen W. Gundersen is the hospital’s new chief medical officer and vice president of medical affairs. He is division chief of hospital medicine at UMass Memorial Health Care, Marlborough Hospital and Clinton Hospital. He is also an assistant professor of medicine in family medicine and community health at UMass Medical School and an adjunct clinical assistant professor at the Massachusetts General Hospital Institute of Health Professions.
Gundersen earned his medical degree at the University of Connecticut School of medicine and completed his residency at UMass Memorial/UMass Medical School. He also completed the University of Tennessee Physician Executive MBA program.
L. Bryan Cheshire has been elected president of the Marlborough Hospital medical staff. He is assistant medical director of emergency medicine at Marlborough Hospital and Clinton Hospital and assistant professor of emergency medicine at UMass Medical School.
Cheshire has a medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine. He completed his residency at University of Alabama at Birmingham and fellowships in anatomic pathology at the National Cancer Institute and the National Institute of Health. He has been on the medical staff at Marlborough Hospital since 2002.
The hospital also announced that Daniel Carlucci, the former president of the Marlborough Hospital medical staff, has been elected to its board of trustees. Carlucci is a cardiologist and partner with the Heart Center of MetroWest.
Carlucci graduated from and completed a residency and a fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at UMass Medical School.
