Fitchburg Device Firm Gets A Boost In Q3

Fitchburg-based medical device component manufacturer Arrhythmia Research Technology Inc. and its wholly owned subsidiary Micron Products Inc. reported a $108,000 profit on revenue of $5.5 million for the third quarter.

For the same quarter last year, the companies reported a $68,000 profit on revenue of $5.8 million.

The company said sales volumes have increased by as much as 10 percent for certain product lines over the last nine months. The company is also investing about $1 million in the implementation of new technology and manufacturing process improvements and will begin using automated production and inspection equipment.

Company management said lean manufacturing initiatives "will continue into the foreseeable future."
