Former Chittenden Exec Joins People's United

Bridgeport, Conn.-based People's United, which has 10 branches in Central Massachusetts, announced this morning that it has a new CFO.
Kirk W. Walters was named CFO and senior executive vice president. He is taking over for Paul D. Burner, who recently left the bank, according to a press release from People's United.
Walters, 55, was previously a senior executive vice president and board member of Santander Holdings USA, the parent company of Sovereign Bank. Prior to joining Santander in 2008, Walters had been executive vice president and CFO of Vermont-based Chittenden Corp., which was acquired by People's United in January 2008.
People's United has 340 branches in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Vermont, New York, New Hampshire and Maine.
