The former location of the Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Worcester’s Mercy Centre is up for sale, with an asking price of $3.25 million.

The 16.1-acre site contains a 52,936-square-foot building, which had been used by the Mercy Centre until it moved its operations to a building at 216 West Boylston St. in West Boylston earlier this year. The three-story building on the Worcester site was constructed in 1960 and contains amenities including a gymnasium, a full kitchen auditorium, according to a listing from Worcester-based real estate brokerage Kelleher & Sadowsky Associates. The site is located at 25 West Chester St.

The Mercy Centre supports adults with developmental disabilities. The centre moved to West Boylston in March, launching a capital campaign to help support the $5.8-million move, which will be partially funded by the sale of the property, according to the Catholic Free Press

Its old Worcester property sits in a RS-7 zone, allowing for by-right uses including single-family housing, group residences, day care centers, and places of worship, among other uses. Multi-family development would require rezoning or a special permit.

The site contains a cell phone tower, which provides $26,400 per year of rent to the property owner. The property was given a 2025 tax assessment value of $6.54 million, according to City of Worcester property records.

The property is being listed by Will Kelleher and James Cozza of Kelleher & Sadowsky.
