One of the largest internal medicine private practices in Worcester is moving to Auburn.
Grove Medical Associates, which has operated its practice on the sixth floor of 26 Queen St. in Worcester for the past 13 years, will move to a building it recently purchased at 250 Hampton St. in Auburn, according to Dr. David Weinstock, a physician and partner with the practice.
Hampton Street LLC, headed by Dr. John E. Kelly, purchased the Hampton Street building in September of last year for $780,000 from Hudson Schoolhouse Inc., according to the Worcester County Registry of Deeds.
Weinstock said that the recent hire of Dr. Robert Pollitt, who recently finished his residency at University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, has created the need for more space. The physicians looked at properties in Worcester, but couldn't find the right space with the right amount of parking, he said.
"That was the biggest issue, size and parking," Weinstock said.
Pollitt, who is currently accepting patients, is the fourth internal medicine physician at Grove Medical Associates. The practice has approximately 8,000 patients, according to Weinstock, and fully computerized medical records to handle its patient load.
Grove Medical will have approximately 7,000 square feet of space in Auburn in comparison to 6,000 square feet it has available on Queen Street. He said the space has a better layout for a medical practice.
