Recipients of $187,000 in grants from a community health fund are getting help in improving access to health care in Worcester.

The Greater Worcester Community Foundation said Monday it has given funds this year to 16 agencies and initiatives in the city through its Fallon/OrNda Community Health Fund.

The Fallon/OrNda Community Health Fund was established in 1996 with an endowment gift of $4 million when the Fallon Foundation sold Saint Vincent Hospital to OrNda Healthcorp, which itself was bought just thereafter by Tenet Healthcare of Dallas. The Greater Worcester Community Foundation and Reliant Medical Group, itself formerly part of the Fallon Health System, determine where to send around $200,000 annually from the fund.
