HMEA To Break Ground On New Sterling Facility

HMEA, a nonprofit organization that serves people with developmental disabilities, plans to break ground on a new, $2.7 million facility in Sterling early next month.

The 16,000-square-foot building will be off Northeast Boulevard and will house an employment and training program, as well as a day program for clients and a bottle and can redemption center that will employ those served by the agency.

Clients of the Sterling facility will also be able to work for local organizations that contract with HMEA, including Atlantic Union College and the Tire Center of Clinton.

The day program at the new facility will be relocated from its current Clinton Road location. The day program serves about 100 people.

HMEA, the Horace Mann Educational Associates, has a bottle and can redemption center at a Plainville facility that it says "has been a huge success for the agency."
