Holy Cross Gets $500K From J.D. Power

A sufficient number of College of the Holy Cross alumni gave money to the school this year to convince Worcester native and Holy Cross graduate J.D. Power III to give the school $500,000.

Power, founder of marketing information firm J.D. Power and Associates, issued a challenge last fall saying that he would give $500,000 to establish paid internships for Holy Cross students if 55 percent of alumni made a donation to the school.

According to the school, more than 55 percent of alumni, especially young alumni, made donations to the school. This year, 16,363 donors gave $26.6 million to the school. The school said $7.8 million of that was raised through the Holy Cross Fund, an annual giving program.
