Home sales shrink, prices flatten

The median price of a single family home in Connecticut stood steady at $270,000 through the first four months of the year, although sales fell 2.2 percent to 9,913, according to The Warren Group, publisher of The Commercial Record. Prices of homes across the state were mostly flat, although Hartford County saw its median sales price rise 2.6 percent to $236,000.  Meanwhile, the state's condominium market saw more dramatic sales decreases than the single-family home market, although prices continued to rise. The 1,098 condos sold in Connecticut in April represented a 6 percent sales drop from April 2006; year-to-date sales fell 8 percent to 3,985. Median prices climbed 5.7 percent in April to $193,500.
