Industrial production unchanged in May

The country's industrial production was unchanged in May following a downwardly revised increase of 0.4 percent in April, according to a Federal Reserve report.

According to the report, output in the manufacturing sector edged up 0.1 percent, and mining output moved up 0.5 percent after declining 0.6 percent in April.

The output of utilities fell 1.3 percent in May, according to the report, after being elevated in April because of unusually cold temperatures.

The Federal Reserve said capacity utilization for U.S. industry fell 0.2 percent to 81.3 percent, 0.3 percent above the 1972-2006 average.
