Job Creation Crawling Forward In 2008

A new survey suggests job creation will continue in the coming year, but more slowly than this year.
The survey, commissioned by online job site CareerBuilder.com , shows that 32 percent of employers plan to increase their number of full-time, permanent employees in 2008, 8 percent expect a decrease and 47 percent plan on no change.

Professional and business services and information technology jobs are projected to grow the most, with 45 percent of employers in the industry expecting an increase. In the transportation and utilities field, 37 percent of companies expect an increase. That number is 34 percent for financial services, 32 percent for hospitality, and 28 percent each for health care and retail.

The survey, conducted by Harris Interactive, included more than 3,000 private sector hiring managers and HR professionals.
