Two Worcester liquor stores are under new ownership following two sales worth a combined $2.5 million.
East Side Discount Liquors at 129 Shrewsbury St. and Worcester Discount Liquors at 254 Mill St. were sold in two separate transactions finalized on Wednesday, according to Worcester District Registry of Deeds records.
Both properties were sold to a real estate trust operated by Pragnesh Patel of Winchester, with both locations’ state liquor licences now being issued to entities managed by Vasudev Patel, also of Winchester, according to Massachusetts Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission records. Both individuals operate Niki's Liquors at 525 North Main St. in Leominster.
Both stores were sold by Gerald Leonard of Worcester. Leonard continues to hold the state license for Holden Discount Liquors at 673 Main St. in Holden.
East Side Discount Liquors is a 7,425-square-foot building constructed in 1955, according to City of Worcester property records. The transaction also included an adjacent parking lot. Combined, the two parcels comprise about 19,000 square feet.
Worcester Discount Liquors is a 5,064-square-foot storefront built in 1964 on a half-acre parcel.
The three parcels involved in the transaction were given a combined 2025 tax assessment value of $1.9 million.
