Less fatigue for surgeons

Framingham-based Cambridge Endo said it has developed the first full line of fully articulating hand held instruments for laparoscopic surgery.

The company calls the line Autonomy Laparo-Angle Instrumentation. The instrument is a needle holder that allow surgeons great freedom movement, and even "maps the motion of the hand holding the instrument," the company said.

According to the company, the new line is a step toward making surgery less invasive. It also can be used with one hand, and could reduce surgeon fatigue, the company said.

The Autonomy line is ideal for suturing, knot tying, dissecting and cutting, the company said.
