Marlborough drone firm to participate on FAA rulemaking committee

Marlborough’s American Robotics, a developer of fully-automated drone systems, has announced it will join a Federal Aviation Administration committee at the government organization’s request.
American Robotics will participate on the FAA Unmanned Aircraft Systems Beyond-Visual-Line-of-Sight Aviation Rulemaking Committee to advance BVLOS drone operations, the company announced Tuesday. American Robotics is the first company to be authorized by the FAA for highly automated operations with no humans on-site.
American Robotics will provide recommendations to normalize safe, viable and scalable BVLOS flights.
We look forward to sharing our insights with the broader commercial drone community, and the FAA,” Reese Mozer, co-founder and CEO of American Robotics, said in the release.
According to American Robotics, automated BVLOS operations are important to bringing the commercial sectors into the drone economy, including the oil and gas, renewable energy, infrastructure, and agriculture industries.
The news comes shortly after it was announced American Robotics was to be acquired by Nantucket-based Ondas Holdings for $70.6 million.
