Mass. Foreclosures Spike In Q1
The number of foreclosure deeds in Massachusetts during the first four months of the year was 1,165 percent higher than for the same period in 2005, The Warren Group reports.
In April, 1,334 foreclosure deeds were reported. That's the highest monthly number since The Warren Group, the publisher of Banker & Tradesman, began tracking deeds in 2005.
In one piece of brighter news, announcements of foreclosure auctions appeared to stabilize somewhat in April, The Warren Group said. The year-over-year auction announcements, which have risen above 200 percent in some months, increased only 7.2 percent in April.
