The University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester has hired EDWARD KEOHANE, a former managing producer for the CNN show “American Morning,” as vice chancellor for communications. In his new position, Keohane will oversee all communications functions for the medical school and its related entities. Before going to CNN, Keohane was a producer at Boston ABC affiliate WCVB-TV.
The Seven Hills Foundation in Worcester has appointed DOMENIC N. SMARRA as its new chief information officer. Smarra previously worked as CIO for another Worcester-based social service nonprofit, YOU Inc. Smarra has 25 years of experience in technology. Before YOU Inc., he was manager of network and technical services at the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester.
The Better Business Bureau of Central New England has elected JIM MADIGAN, treasurer and vice president of the F.W. Madigan construction management company in Worcester, as its new board chair. Madigan has been a member of the board since 2006. Madigan is also a corporator of the American Red Cross of Central Massachusetts. He has a bachelor’s degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
HELENE CHAMBERLAIN is the new laboratory manager at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester. Working for hospital vendor LabCorp., she will manage day-to-day operations at the lab. Chamberlain has worked for various laboratories in Massachusetts and Pennsylvania and for AmeriNet, a group purchasing organization.
Anna Maria College of Paxton has added ALFRED A. LAGAN and EDITH M. LAVIGNE to its board of trustees. Lagan is the founder and chairman of Congress Asset Management Co. in Boston. He previously served for four years in the U.S. Navy. LaVigne is a volunteer with organizations including the Cape Cod Healthcare Organization, the Jupiter Elementary School in Jupiter, Fla., and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Worcester. She has a bachelor’s degree from Anna Maria and served as a trustee of the college from 2001 to 2007.
Hillside Equestrian Center in Grafton has hired CHARLENE MCDONALD-CLOUTHIER as western program director. McDonald-Clouthier was previously the owner-operator of the Quarter Ridge Farm in Grafton. In her new position, she will work with horses and riders in all areas of western horsemanship.
Natick medical device maker Boston Scientific has added NELDA CONNORS, president of the electrical and metal products division of Tyco International, to its board of directors. Connors previously served as vice president at Eaton Corp., and, before that, in various capacities with Ford, Chrysler and Modgami Denki.
RICHARD F. POWELL, a CPA with the Worcester firm of Greenberg, Rosenblatt, Kull & Bitsoli PC, has been elected to the executive board of the Worcester Polytechnic Institute Venture Forum.
JANE BECKER has joined the Keller Williams Realty Greater Worcester Market Center. Becker has 14 years experience in real estate, with a special focus in buyer agency. The Keller Williams office also announced its new 2010 Agent Leadership Council, which acts as the board of directors for the local office. The ALC is composed of agents whose sales are in the top 20 percent. For 2010, the ALC is: PATRICK MCQUAID, KELLY POUGH, JASON PIEDRASANTA, JEFFREY HALL, and DAVID HILL. Hill was also chosen as a member of the Keller Williams Realty International ALC.
UMass emergency medicine specialist PETER PAIGE has been named chair of the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Medicine. Paige is vice chair of emergency medicine at UMass Memorial Medical Center and clinical associate professor of emergency medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
ALANA M. PAPA has joined the Franklin office of Whitinsville-based ERA Key Realty Services. She was previously the director of recruiting at The Professional Alliance in Milford. She has a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Saint Anselm College in New Hampshire.
The Hanover Insurance Group Inc. of Worcester has appointed former AIG CFO STEVEN J. BENSINGER as executive vice president and senior finance officer and TONY DE PADUA as head of its corporate product and underwriting functions. Bensinger will replace Eugene M. Bullis, who is retiring as CFO later this year. Before AIG, Bensinger held senior leadership positions at Chartwell Re Corp., Trenwick Group Ltd. and Combined Specialty Group Inc. De Padua has more than 30 years of experience in the insurance industry.
