BRIAN BUCKLEY, director at Worcester-based Fletcher, Tilton & Whipple, has been re-elected the chair of the board of the Worcester Regional Research Bureau for 2008. Buckley concentrates his practice in the areas of criminal defense, commercial litigation and appellate matters. He serves on numerous other committees and is a member of many professional organizations including the Worcester County Bar Association. Buckley is also a board member of Destination Worcester and is president of the Worcester Public Library Foundation.
Attorney MARK NOONAN has been nominated to the Leominster District Court. A graduate of UMass Boston and Suffolk University School of Law, he served for three years as an assistant district attorney for the Middle District Office of the District Attorney prior to establishing his private civil and criminal defense practice. Noonan is slated to fill the vacancy on the Leominster District Court created by the retirement of Judge Edward Reynolds.
MARK PETTER has been promoted to vice president of information systems development for Worcester-based Carroll Enterprises Inc. In this new post, he will be responsible for the overall direction of information systems development, networking and computer operations. He joined the company in June 2007 and previously worked for a major consulting firm in Boston.
Millbury Savings Bank recently elected JAMES BEAUREGARD chairman of its board of trustees and THOMAS FOX JR. as a trustee. Beauregard is the senior partner of the tax accounting firm Beauregard & McDonough in Millbury. Fox is president of Turf Enhancement Enterprises in Millbury. The bank also promoted COLLEEN YOUNG to branch officer. Young joined Millbury Savings in 2002 as branch manager of the bank's Route 146 office.
Bay State Savings Bank has named DOMINIQUE FAUTEUX operations officer. She joined the bank in 1998 as treasury assistant and has more than 20 years of banking and accounting experience. JEFFREY LOCKE has been promoted to assistant vice president and branch manager of its branch at 799 Grafton St. in Worcester. He joined the bank in 2007 as branch manager.
DENNIS BERKEY, president and CEO of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, has been elected by the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities in Massachusetts to serve as chairman of its executive committee of college and university presidents. Berkey was appointed the 15th president of Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 2004 following more than 30 years of service in a variety of higher education positions.
The Junior League of Worcester has named SARA KELLEHER SEARS as its new president. Additional members of the JLW named to the 2007-2008 board of directors are: KERRI MARTINEK, president elect; COLLEEN COLBY, vice president of finance; BRENDA DUBREY, community vice president; MARY SURETTE, sustainer rep; MAUREEN HARRINGTON, fund development; CHRISTIN HARRINGTON, treasurer; ABBYGAYL GEORGE, secretary; WENDY REYNOLDS, membership and development; and BETH KEIM, membership and development.
The Worcester County chapter of the Association for Operations Management has elected the following local people to serve as officers on its board of directors: TIM MACKIN, president; ART BLANCHARD, executive vice president; MARY SKORVANEK, controller; and JANET BESSETTE, treasurer.
JOHN GOTTLIEB has been promoted to chief information officer of Morgan Construction Co. in Worcester. He has been director of information systems technology since 2002 and began his career with Morgan in 1990.
Unum in Worcester has promoted STEVEN JOSEPH to senior vice president of Individual Disability Income Business Operations. Prior to this new appointment, Joseph was vice president of individual disability, long term care and group medical underwriting, and prior to that was head of underwriting for the north region.
BRUCE FORTIN has been named president and treasurer of Worcester-based C.K. Smith and Co. Inc. He joined the company in July 2007 as COO and prior to that held management positions in both the manufacturing and product distribution sectors.
PETER HARRINGTON was named a partner at Bowditch & Dewey LLP in Worcester. He joins the firm from Harvard Medical School where he served as director of research compliance and regulatory affairs. At Bowditch & Dewey, his practice will focus on representing and advising schools, colleges and universities.
Electronic Environments Corp. in Marlborough has appointed BILL KOTSIFAS as its new director of sales. Prior to EEC, Bill worked at Deltek Systems, Cooper Software, and Rational Software.
